Firouz FarmanFarmaian's creative musical output has been constant since the founding of art-rock Paris duo PLAYGROUND with guitarist-composer-producer Dino Trifunovic in 2002.
Catching on the 2000's indie rock scene PLAYGROUND signed on French label Catalogue - Le Village Vert ( Telepopmusik, Sporto Kantes, Autour de Lucie ) in 2003. The label released a first promo 12' Hurt, followed by debut single 1994 in 2004. Critical acclaim for 1994 made way for release of debut album 'WHATS YOUR GAME' PRIMARILY recorded FULLY analog by Daniel Presley ( GoldFrapp, Faith No More, The Breeders ) at the Paris Gang studios. Album was completed and mixed at Depeche ModE London Bedroom studios by Dimitri Tikovoï ( Placebo, Marianne Faithfull, Blondie ).
In 2007-2008 CATALOG RECORDS FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY, Playground moved TOWARDS various international collaborative experiments IMPLEMENTING THEIR OWN label IN THE UK TOURING with SPONSOR support ( Eastpak- Vans ).collabs WITH NY electroclash duo StreetLab, electro-pop London producer Session Leopard and Milan TEK producer Vincent Vargas HELPED THE BAND EVOLVE TOWARDS electronic music. AS A RESULT - the 'LIVIN ON A WEAK END REMIX EP' WAS released in 2008.
BUT 'Livin on a Weak End' was originally part of a set of dense funk-rock SOUND PLAYGROUND had been HITTING while touring - most of which were recorded as LIVE demos in Playground's PARISIAN REHEARSAL sPACE AND LATER compiled under the 'Lost Album'.
In 2009 PLAYGROUND signed with Zadig & Voltaire Music - Sony ATV to record + release their final work in 2010. Experimenting with fusion eletcro-rock sounds, concept-album 'PLAYGROUND NIGHTOLOGY' was produced by Eric Chédeville ( Daft Punk, Sebastien Tellier ) and went gold with single 'Maravillosa'. ThE band seperated in 2012 before the Nightology album release.
PLAYGROUND has nEVER reformed.
