BURN THE SAGE TO TYCHE
Firouz farmanfarmaian returns to the balearic islands WITH ARTIST LED galeria hmh PRESENTING BURN THE SAGE TO TYCHE deployING A SITE SPECIFIC ABSTRACT CANVAS INSTALLATION following his celebrated TENURE AT the 59th biennale di venezia.
the exhibition takes the form of a a spiritual connect to ELeMENTS sourced iN SACRED MYTHS OF ANCIENT GREECE and ITS NATURAL WORLD - COLLECTED DIRECTLY FROM THE POWERFUL ENVIRONMENT of HIS NEW ARDITTOS HILL STUDIO IN ATHENS, GREECE.
As FarmanFarmaian’s follow up exhibition to his acclaimed 59th Biennale di Venezia Postribal installation for the Kyrgyz Pavilion, ‘Burn the Sage to Tyché’ developed with artist led HMH Gallery in Mallorca, - transports the artists exploration across cosmogonies and spiritual realms into the mythical aura of Greece through an immersive installation of monumental abstract panels designated to hang as offerings to the Athenian Goddess of fortune, Tyché Agathe.
Produced in FarmanFarmaian’s new Athenian workshop perched on the Southern flank of Arditto hill - in the shadows of the iconic Kalimarmaro olympic stadium and the sacred vestiges of the Temple of Tyché - the series vibrates with ethereal qualities : layering line, light and texture through the use of specific materials such as Pentelic and Dionysian Marble dust integrated into the paint and onto canvas.
Sourcing material within quarries that have delivered marble to Athenian temples such as the glorious Parthenon through millennia, FarmanFarmaian actively seeks to activate a dialogue between past and future - the material and the immaterial - here creating a sacred space to favor a reconnection to the his idea of Beauty through the transformative power OF CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE.,
